Question: Write a summary of what you read in your book today.
This week I am reading The Dead and the Gone. This book is the second book of The World We Live In Series. Instead of this book being In Miranda's point of view, it is in Alex Point of View. The world has changed due to the moon coming closer to Earth. This has caused tsunami's , earthquakes, volcanic explosions, and any other natural disaster you can probably think of. Alex goes everyday to town to check the churches bulletin board to see if they have found any news about her mother. His father has been in Puerto Rico on a Funeral but it seems that the hole coast of where the dad was has been destroyed. He has to find a way on how to make sure his sister survive through this. This novel is about a boy trying to raise his little sisters and try to find a way that works best for them. People keep saying that the moon should be back in place in a couple of weeks. While others think it's the end of the world. Question:Explain some of the things that you have learned so far that you are not likely to forget in the near future.
Some things that i have learned so far that i won't forget in the future is how Harry Potter scar always hurts when verdolmont is near which is kind of weird in my opinion. This is also a good thing because it gives him some sort of warning which would help him prepare if it don't really hurt a lot. Anther thing i learned that i't most likely not to forget is the way Harry Potter face lit up when he was watching The World Cup Quiddich Game. Harry thought this was an excellent experience because these only come along in a long time. The last one they had was 31 years ago. Question: What about this book amazed, interested or stood out to you as you read?
Something that amazed me while i was reading was that Matt and Syl didn't even get a priest or a judge to bless there marriage. The only thing that happened was that they both just said some vows to each other and then they made said they were finally married. Another thing that amazed me while reading was that Miranda went out because her and her mom had an argument. Miranda just walked out of the house and got on her bike and just stared riding who knows where. While she was on her bike she got lost so she just kept traveling. When she finally realized where she was she saw a pile of dead bodies. I would have thought Miranda would just turn around and leave but she just went right to it. She reconized some of the bodies. Once Miranda had inspected the pile she decided to go home. There are so many amazing adventures. Question: What, if anything, did you gain by reading this book? Should I use it again some time with another class in the month of November? Why or Why not?
I am reading the book called Molly Moon Stops the World. Something that i learned from this book that can be useful to your teaching is that by working together anyone or anybody can accomplish anything. A character in my book who is a secret agent is trying to capture the hypnotizing master. She asks her friend if she could help her because she knows some skills that she knows and because the agent was weak from an accident that had occurred the following week. She travels and does spying and researching. The girl who helped the agent stop the criminal was able to capture him due to the information the agent had sent to her. Question : Put yourself in the author's shoes--Why do you think s/he wrote this book?
If i were in the author's shoes i would think i would write this book to show some action taste coming in and mystery. Now a days not a lot of author write books that involve mystery and action. I would also write this book to try to get more people to read books. This book shows about an adventure over hypnotizing. There is a certain person who is causing damage to people just to try to get even more money. This certain person wants people working with them with out having to pay them. He want to get payed even more. This author wants to make a reader even more interested. This could be a book in which once you start reading you just don't want to put down after getting into the action. Question: How does this chapter remind you of something else?
The main character in this book is Cassie. Cassie is a character which is determined to get things done and wanting to get things back how they were. Of course a lot of people would have to work together with her and trying to end this once and for all. This character reminds me of my sister Tanya. This character reminds me of my sister because now that she got into high school she has a lot of work to do. Tanya is always trying to get her work done and turned in on time because well the quarter is about to end. Sometimes she is always on her laptop working so my mom does things to try and distract her for she can stop working so much. Question: If your main character were deserted on a desert island, what 3 personal objects would they want with them and why?
In this book I would think that Harry Potter would want to have his broom, wand, and some food and water. He will especially need water because you can actually not survive without water not unless you made and invention and used a water spell to have unlimited water i'm not sure exactly because you never know what Harry Potter has in mind. He would probably want his broom to explore or look around or maybe he will just want to leave or come back. He will need his wand to create magic spells to try to survive. He will honestly need food and water to survive. This week I am reading the book called Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Question: What is the setting of your book (time and place)? How would the story change if you changed the setting. Give me at least one specific example. The setting of my book take place in a Wizard School named Hogwarts. In this school students who's parents were wizards then they would come to school. If there parents were muggle born then some of them could come. People there sometimes judge you by if your pure blood halve blood. This is not really important it's just some people like making fun of. If you change the setting then all the books would be different because this book is in a series. All the action could change it would just be weird since you already should have gotten used to the first and second book. All the characters could have acted different or described themselves like people who are of class maybe or they could have been mean. This is such a civilized school for me. Hogwarts is a school where education is high in achievement. This week I am reading the book called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling.
Question or Answerable Discussion:Discuss a funny or ironic part of the story was in your book. A funny topic that was in what I read was that Harry, Ron, and Heromine all drank a transformation potion and that Heromine transformed into a cat head because she accidentally got cat hair instead of the slytherin girls hair. Another thing was that at Headless Nick party they all took a picture but all the ghosts didn't appear because you know they are ghosts. Harry Potter And his Friends all appeared except for the ghosts. I kinda thought that was kinda funny because it doesn't really seem funny to other people. |
